Programs
This camp also celebrates National Park and Recreation Month in July, making it the perfect time for kids to explore local parks, get inspired by outdoor spaces, and discover why parks and recreation matter to communities of all sizes.
The camp includes special park exploring days where participants visit local parks to spark ideas and creativity. At the end of the program, participants will showcase their park designs during a public Park Design Showcase.

Project 1: What makes a great park? - June 29-July 2
• Brainstorm favorite park features
• Talk about who uses parks and why
• Design an “Ultimate Park” on paper
Project 2: Out of this World Parks – July 6-9
• Participants will explore what a park in space might be like
• Talk about what special features might be needed
• Design an “Ultimate Park” on paper
Project 3: Parks for Everyone – July 13-16
• Explore what might be needed in parks for people with disabilities
• Talk about what can be done to make a park that would bring everyone together
• Design an “Ultimate Park” on paper
Project 4: Model Park – July 20-27
• Participants will use what they learned to put together a model park
• Participants will use craft supplies to make their park and a report on their concept
• Participants will use their creative thinking to overcome some obstacles in their design process
